KBDI 12 Denver, CO http://www.kbdi.org announced before the start of Doctor Who on July 3rd that it was the final broadcast. "Farewell... Thank You to All of Our Loyal Viewers." It appears that the repeat of the concluding episodes of The Sea Devils this Friday will be the end of Doctor Who's long run on this secondary Doctor Who affiliate. This brings the number of US broadcasters airing Doctor Who down to eight.
The Daily Telegraph in Sydney, Australia http://dailytelegraph.news.com.au/index.jsp had an article in their print edition on 7 July discussing lots of new Doctor Who merchandise that would be hitting the stores prior to the delivery of the new series to Australia in February 2005. The article is in the supplement "Seven Days". The article does not indicate which station would air the series, though it's been assumed that ABC (currently airing the reruns) would air the new Doctor Who firstrun. While it is expected that the new series will be sold to many countries without too much lag time, this is the first time that a date (which might not be a broadcast date) has been linked to anyone besides BBC One. The article was not available online as of publication time.
Meanwhile, on the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho
and Outpost Gallifrey http://www.gallifreyone.com the names and back
cover blurbs of the three hardcover Ninth Doctor Novels for 2005 are
online. The blurbs include dates for the novels (March, April, and
July).
I've been holding off on speculating on the premiere date for the
new series, waiting for official word. The news on the novels and
the Daily Telegraph article back up the idea that the BBC wants to
premiere the new episodes early in 2005. While we still do not have
an official premiere date, it's nice to think that we are getting
close now.
KTEH/KCAH 54,25 San Jose/Watsonville, CA http://www.kteh.org will encore their interview with Jon Pertwee late Saturday July 17 at 1:35AM PDT. While KTEH has been having budget problems and unable to purchase Doctor Who for well over a year, they do periodically air some of the specials they have made with Doctor Who actors between 1981 and 2003. Hopefully KTEH will be able to resume airing Doctor Who in the future.
